About UT
Founded in 1961, the University of Twente is a young, dynamic, entrepreneurial university with nearly 4,000 employees and 12,000 students. Given UT’s mission to be a university of technology that puts people first, we ensure that the power of science and technology is harnessed to achieve the best possible impact in a changing world. We cherish our rich tradition of combining technical and social sciences in our four themes: health, safety & security, chip technology and climate.
Our research institutes combine scientific excellence with a sharp eye for knowledge valorisation and social application and are highly successful in generating spin-off businesses. To date, this has resulted in more than 1,000 start-ups founded within the UT community. The University of Twente offers PhD programmes, post-academic programmes and a range of 21 bachelor’s and 30 master’s degree programmes in technology and behavioural and social sciences. A multidisciplinary approach and project-oriented education are characteristic for our educational activities.
